Newly-Augmented Elsholtzia Decoction (xin jia xiang ru yin)

Common cold: Invasion of summer heat and dampness

This formula is a variation of Coptidis and Mosla Decoction (huang lian xiang ru Yin) in which Huang lian (Rhizoma Coptidis) has been replaced with Jin Yin hua (Flos Lonicerae) and Lian qiao (Fructus Forsythiae)

Ingredients:

Chief: Xiang ru (Herba Moslae), enters the Lung collaterals to disperse the constraint of the protective Yang. It also facilitates urination to aid in the resolution of dampness.

Deputy: Xian bian dou hua (Semen Lablad album), is aromatic and slightly cold. it disperses pathogen and resolves summerheat without damaging the fluids. Jin Yin hua (Flos Lonicerae) and Lian qiao (Fructus Forsythiae) are both light, Acrid and cooling and vent wind-heat and foul turbidity through the exterior.

Assistant: Hou po (Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis), mindful of the adage that " whitout wartm, dampness cannot be transformed".
