Releases the exterior and clears interior heat.

For exterior cold with interior heat characterized by severe fever and chills without sweating, body aches, irritability, and a floating, tight pulse. May also be used for acute floating edema. Today the dosage of Herba Ephedrae (ma huang) and Fructus Zizyphi Jujubae (da zao) is reduced. Available in prepared form.
